FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Understanding your Faith.
-
Sin separates us from God, and we could never restore that relationship through our own efforts. Because God loves us, He sent Jesus Christ to take the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross in our place (Romans 5:8; 1 Peter 2:24).
Through Jesus’ sacrifice, forgiveness and reconciliation with God are available to everyone who places their faith in Him. Jesus died so that we could be forgiven, restored to God, and receive the gift of eternal life (John 3:16).
-
To be “born again” means experiencing a spiritual new beginning through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus taught that we must be born again to enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:3–6). This is not a physical birth, but a spiritual transformation in which God forgives our sins, gives us new life, and makes us new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Being born again begins with believing in Jesus, turning away from sin, and surrendering your life to Him. From there, the Holy Spirit works within you, helping you grow, change, and live according to God’s Word.
-
The resurrection is essential to the Christian faith because it proves that Jesus is who He said He is and that He has victory over sin and death. Jesus not only died for our sins—He rose from the grave, demonstrating God’s power and confirming the hope of eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:3–4, 17).
Because Christ lives, those who place their faith in Him can receive forgiveness, experience new life, and have the assurance that death is not the end (John 11:25–26).
-
Repentance means recognizing our sin, turning away from it, and turning toward God with a sincere desire to follow Him. It is more than simply feeling sorry—it involves a change of heart and direction (Acts 3:19).
Yes, repentance is an essential part of responding to the Gospel. Jesus called people to “repent and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15). We are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and genuine faith includes a willingness to turn from sin and surrender our lives to Him.
-
Salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not through works or religious ceremonies (Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10). Baptism does not earn salvation; rather, it is an important act of obedience that publicly represents a believer’s faith in Christ and identifies them with His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:3–4).
Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized (Matthew 28:19), so while baptism is not what saves us, it is an important step of obedience for those who have placed their faith in Christ.
-
Salvation is a gift from God received through faith in Jesus Christ, not something we earn through good works (Ephesians 2:8–9). Scripture teaches that those who truly belong to Christ are secure in Him and that nothing can separate us from His love (John 10:28–29; Romans 8:38–39).
At the same time, believers are called to remain faithful, continue in their relationship with Christ, and live a life that reflects genuine faith (John 15:4–6; Hebrews 3:14). Salvation is not permission to live however we choose—it begins a transformed life of following Jesus.
